Insight, slowly.
al-Firasah is a long-form video and writing project on Islamic history, figures, and ideas — made for the patient watcher and the careful reader.
The word al-firāsah (الفِراسة) is sometimes translated as insight, sometimes discernment — the kind of seeing that comes from sustained attention, not first impressions. We chose it as a name because it names the thing we want to make space for.
We publish considered pieces — usually long, sometimes short — on the parts of the tradition we find most worth thinking about. Eras, dynasties, persons, ideas, and the quiet practices that hold a life together. Nothing controversial, nothing rushed.
What we publish
Some pieces are videos. Some are essays. Some are both — an essay reads the video back to you, or the video brings the essay to life. Pick the form that suits the moment.
Who we are
al-Firasah is a venture of Masirah, an Oman-based media holding company building cultural projects with care.
